Dr. Prof. Carlo Bufalini
Specialist and professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology. He has spent the whole of his career, from intern to consultant, at the CTO in Florence, but chose to resign three years ago. Since the sixties he has devoted himself to surgery of the hand, microsurgery and surgery of the upper limbs, perfecting his skills through periods of study and work at specialized centers in the USA. He has carried out over 20,000 operations .
He currently works at the Day Surgery Center he founded (recognized by major private health insurance companies) and in hospitals covered by the SSN (Italian National Health Service).

Dr. Renzo Angeloni
He was awarded a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence on the 27/9/77 with a dissertation on “Knee Arthro-prosthesis”, and he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Florence, with a dissertation on “Congenital Malformations of Hand Tendons”, gaining a grade of 70/70 with honours.
For more than 20 years he was assistant of Prof. Carlo Bufalini at the Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery unit at the CTO in Florence. During this period he worked particularly on Brachial Plexus Surgery, paying frequent visits at the Longeraie Clinic in Lausanne, directed by Prof. Narakas, a pioneer of Peripheral Nerves Surgery. At the Balgrist Klinik in Zurich he had a chance to work in depth on problems of Open and Arthroscopic Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Since June 2002 he is director of the Orthopedics I unit (now S.O.D. of General Orthopedics III) at CTO in Florence, dedicated specifically to the treatment of pathologies concerning upper limbs and shoulder and elbow in particular. From July 2004 to October 2006 he was President of the Upper Limbs Committee of the SIGASCOT society. Since 1989 he Teaches at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology of the University of Florence. He has published on topics pertaining upper limbs on many journals. Recently, he was invited at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons in Chicago to present on the state of the art and new techniques of Elbow Surgery in Italy.

Dr. Domenico Andrea Campanacci
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1988 and he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Orthopedic Institute Rizzoli in Bologna in 1993.
Research fellowship at the University of Florida in Gainesville, United States, in 1994, developing a research project on Osteoarticula Allograft.
Clinical fellowship at the “Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center” of New York, United States, in 1997 to deepen his knowledge of Muscular-skeletal Oncology
Clinical fellowship at the ”Hospital for Special Surgery” of New York, United States, in 1997 to deepen his knowledge of Prosthetic Reconstructions of Hips and Knees.
Since 1994 he is Medical Executive of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Oncologic Orthopedics Department of the Traumatological Orthopedic Center of the Careggi University Hospital of Florence.
The structure is a Regional and National Center of Reference for the Diagnosis and Treatment of tumours of the muscular-skeletal apparatus.
He is consultant of the Peadiactric Oncohematology of the University Hospital Meyer in Florence
He is professor at the School of Specialization in Othopedics and Traumatology of the University of Trieste.
He performed more than 2500 surgical operations of Oncologic Orthopedics, Traumatology and Reconstructive Orthopedics.
At present he is reference specialist for bony and soft parts’ tumours surgery and for articular reconstructive surgery of first implant and of revision with prosthesis and bony transplant.

Having resigned from the above posts in April 2012, he is now exclusively practicing as an independent reconstructive and plastic surgeon.
Has extensive experience in Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery, having studied at the Jefferson University of Philadelphia (USA), University of Porto Alegre (Brazil), and University of Paris (France), as well as having participated at numerous courses internationally.
Ordinary member of the Italian Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and member of the new Italian Association of Aesthetic Surgery (AICPE).
Member of ISAPS, the most prestigious international association of Aesthetic Surgery.
Has published over 250 scientific papers nationally and internationally.

Dr. Marco Innocenti
Graduated at the University of Florence in 1981 with full marks and honours, he then specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology, in Hand Surgery and in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the same university. His formation was since the beginning oriented toward Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery in all anatomic zones, and it was enriched by many experiences abroad. In particular his microsurgical techniques were improved at the Center for Microsurgical Studies in Louisville (USA), the Albert Einstein Medical Center in New York and the Chinese University in Hong Kong.
After being Prof. Bufalini’s assistant at the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery unit at the CTO in Florence, he is at present Director of the Reconstrucitve Microsurgery SOD of the University Hospital Careggi in Florence. He is also consultant of the Pediatric Hospital Meyer in Florence, of the Orthopedic Institute Pini in Milano and of the Orthopedic Institute Rizzoli in Bologna. During his career he performed more than 3.500 Hand Surgery operations and about 500 microsurgical reconstructions.
Academically, he is Professor in Microsurgery at the Schools of Specialization in Plastic Surgery at the University of Siena and in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Florence. He held courses in Italy and abroad and he was Visiting Professor at the following institutions: Henry Ford Health System (Detroit, USA), Duke University (Durham, USA), Hirosaki Medical School (Hirosaki, Japan).
He is member of the Italian Society of Microsurgery, of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He was President Of the Italian Society for Microsurgery from 2002 to 2005, and he is at present international delegate of the same Society.

Prof. Massimo Innocenti
He is Full Professor of Locomotor Apparatus Diseases at the Medical Faculty of the University of Florence and Director of the Orthopedic SOD Complex II Clinic of Orthopedics and Traumatology 2 at the University Hospital of Careggi.
He is an expert in prostheses of large joints (hip, knee and shoulder), which applies minimally invasive and computerized surgery techniques to; he has a wide experience in the use of ceramic and anallergic prostheses to obtain more long-lasting implants.
He is an expert in arthroscopic surgery of the knee for the treatment of ligament, meniscus and cartilage lesions.
He is interested in reconstructive techniques with stem cells and bone growth factors for revision of prostheses, bone necrosis and outcomes of faulty unions.

Dr. Giulia Lo Russo
Giulia Lo Russo was born in Florence on November 14th, 1970.
She matriculated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence in the academic year 1989/1990 and got her degree on March 26th, 1997 with full marks and honours.
In the second session of 1997 she passed the national examination qualifying for the practice of profession with full marks and since January 1998 she is Member of the Medical Association of Florence.
Since 1999 she works with the Spinal Unit of Florence for the surgical treatment of decubitus ulcer in patients with spinal cord injuries.
In July 2002 she specialized in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the University of Florence with full marks and honours.
She is Researcher in Plastic Surgery at the University of Florence since November 1st, 2002 and she is clinic assistant, surgeon and teacher at the Plastic Surgery University Ward of the University Hospital Careggi.

Dr. Pasquale Pippa
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence and specialized in Anaesthesia and Reanimation with full marks at the University of Florence. Since 1980 he works at the Traumatological Orthopedic Centre of Florence. He worked in particular with Prof. Carlo Bufalini for 25 years. Promoter of the field block anaesthesia at the C.T.O. of Florence, he took part in many conferences, symposia, training periods and refresher courses. Author of many scientific publications, also in prestigious international reviews, in the field of Anaesthesia, he created original field block anaesthesia techniques which are now adopted by the scientific community. At the “Day Surgery” Maurizio Bufalini Centre he is coordinator of the group of anaesthesia experts (Dr. Francesco Pelusio, Dr.Giacomo Poggi, Dr.Alberto Boccaccini), who treat patients who have been operated on from the point of view of anaesthesia.
